The Pyramid goes pitchside

This week, The Pyramid took an important step beyond reporting on football and into the football economy itself.

We're delighted to announce new pitchside sponsorship agreements with Boreham Wood and Corinthian-Casuals, with our boards going up at both grounds over the coming weeks.

The clubs could hardly be more different. Boreham Wood are an ambitious National League operation targeting promotion to the Football League, while Corinthian-Casuals are one of the most historic names in amateur football, carrying a global football legacy while competing at grassroots level.

That difference is exactly why they belong together in this announcement — and why they belong within The Pyramid.

Boreham Wood

Boreham Wood Football Club, known to supporters as the Wood, are based at Meadow Park in Hertfordshire. Founded in 1948, the club have built a reputation for punching above their traditional level and are now targeting promotion to the Football League.

Their recent return to the National League followed promotion from the National League South. The club have continued to develop both on and off the pitch, with a clear ambition to establish themselves at the top end of the non-league game and take the next step into the EFL.

The latest filed accounts show a very healthy cash position and positive net assets. The club's balance sheet does not suggest they are under obvious short-term pressure to sell players or compromise their sporting plans, although the accounts do not include a full profit-and-loss statement. That financial stability gives Boreham Wood a stronger platform from which to pursue promotion.

Meadow Park is central to the club's identity. It is a compact, community-focused ground that has undergone significant improvement over the years, including investment in the pitch, floodlights, drainage and supporter facilities. Arsenal have also maintained a long relationship with the ground, and Arsenal's under-19s will play their home fixtures at Meadow Park this season, bringing another level of high-quality youth football to Borehamwood.

Boreham Wood's story is one of steady professionalisation. They remain rooted in their local community, but operate with the ambition, infrastructure and financial base of a club determined to compete in the Football League.

Corinthian-Casuals

Corinthian-Casuals occupy a unique place in English football.

The club was formed in 1939 through the merger of the Corinthians and Casuals, two famous amateur sides whose influence extended far beyond England. Their history is closely linked to the Corinthian spirit: sportsmanship, fair play, humility and a belief that football should be played with integrity as well as ambition.

The Corinthians helped spread football around the world through overseas tours. Their influence can still be seen in Brazil, where Sport Club Corinthians Paulista — one of the country's most famous clubs — took its name and inspiration from the English side after a tour of Brazil in the early twentieth century.

The club's influence even reached the language of the sport. Corinthians player Charles Wreford-Brown is widely credited with coining the word "soccer", a term that began as an Oxford abbreviation for "association football".

Today, Corinthian-Casuals play in the Combined Counties League Premier Division South and are based at King George's Field in Tolworth. They are a community club sustained by volunteers, supporters, local involvement and a determination to preserve one of football's most distinctive identities.

Their story is not about the scale of the stadium or the size of the budget. It is about history, belonging and the work required to keep a historic football club active in the modern game.

The Pyramid — Special Edition · Why this matters

Why this matters

The Pyramid is being built as a platform for the whole football economy.

That includes club ownership, governance, stadiums, sponsorship, investment, supporter culture and the people who keep clubs operating at every level.

Our sponsorships with Boreham Wood and Corinthian-Casuals reflect that range.

Boreham Wood represent the ambition and professional growth of the modern non-league game. They are financially stable, commercially active and focused on promotion to the Football League.

Corinthian-Casuals represent something different: the heritage, community and spirit that remain at the heart of grassroots football. Their story connects a local club in Surrey to the global spread of the sport, to one of Brazil's biggest clubs, and to an ideal of football that still matters today.

They are very different clubs, but both are part of the same pyramid. Both have a story worth telling. Both are now part of The Pyramid.

The boards will be going up shortly. When they do, The Pyramid will be on the touchline at Meadow Park and King George's Field — not just reporting on the football economy, but participating in it.

Thank you for reading, supporting and sharing The Pyramid. If you run a club, business or project somewhere in the pyramid and want to talk about the people, ideas and structures shaping football, get in touch through The Pyramid.
